Business Reengineering

Business reengineering can be defined as the redesigning or restructuring of organizational processes and operations to improve and ensure efficiency and effectiveness in productivity and employee performance--specifically in the areas of speed, quality, cost and service delivery. Business reengineering can occur in various methods and should be appropriate to organizational climate, vision and strategic objectives. Ideally, business reengineering will prove most successful when an adequate assessment of the organization's current state occurs.

In many cases business reengineering occurs when problems arise. The process of reengineering is implemented to remedy these problems. Many methods used during reengineering process can include work flow reauthoring, implementation of new systems, policies and procedures, restructuring performance goals and outputs, and training.
